As mothers of small children ourselves and being footwear technologists we completely understand that buying shoes for toddler boys or toddler girl shoes can be a minefield! There are so many things to think about:

Great Brands I Walk – this is a great brand from New Zealand. They offer First Walker and toddler shoes, trainers and boots. They are VERY soft and flexible – ideal for growing feet! They all have leather uppers and liners so the foot can breathe and the soles are REALLY flexible so ensure healthy muscle development. This range comes out deep (particularly on the trainers) and wide so offer a great fit for most small chubby feet.

Hush Puppies – with their unique ‘Fit left, fit right’ system you can fit each foot separately in terms of width, so that can really help you achieve the best fitting shoe for your child.

Noel – this is a high quality French brand that is made of the best possible leather. They do come out rather shallow and narrow though, so not for really wide feet!

Froddo – if your child is anything like my son with wide chubby feet, this brand is a must! I couldn’t get my son into Clarks or Startrite as he was so big, it’s one of the reasons we started Shoes On. They use beautiful leathers and have great styling.

Buckle my Shoe – this brand covers all areas from shoes, boots to canvas.

Simple – if you want to do your bit for the environment, buying eco and recycled footwear, plus look after your kids feet, this brand is a must!

UMI – using lovely leathers and having great design, this brand offers some great styles.

Pediped - Pediped is a brand from the USA that not only offers comfortable padded shoes that are lightweight and flexible, but also look great too...if only they made them for adults too!
